Newspaper item: "PORTRAIT PAINTING. -- We lately visited the room of Mr. Jefferson Wright, in this city, and were agreeably surprised to notice the remarkable accuracy which char-acterises the portraits he has finished. We have never seen the distinctive features of the human countenance delineated with more accuracy by any artist. A person after examining these portraits, and readily comprehend the remark -- "the canvass breathes", for life itself seems infused into his figures. We have often heard of "natu-ral bone-setters", "natural poets", & c., but this is the first time we have met with a natural painter. It is worth a journey from the remotest extremity of the re-public, to secure a portrait of this excellent artist."
