Infant's white cotton batiste gown, hand sewn, c. 1870-1880. Scoop necked, short sleeved, neck ties in back, sleeves are made of 2 pieces connected with a row of zig-zag trim. Edges are scalloped and decorated with satin-stitch leaves and eyelet flowers. Front bodice is decorated with "V" shaped insert edged with scalloped eyelet lace. Center "V" is decorated with 9 small tucks followed by a row of zig-zag, satin-stitch leaves and eyelet flowers, zig-zag trim, 50 tucks, zig-zag. There is a band around waist decorated with satin-stitch and eyelet flowers. The skirt is gathered and the bottom edge is made up of rows of 8 small tucks, zig-zag; this pattern repeats 3 times; last row ends with eyelet scalloped edge. There are a few stains and some tears, some of the tears have been mended. The back is ripped down the center to the bottom trim.
