Infant's white cotton batiste gown, handmade, ca. 1870-1880. Scoop neck with drawstring tie in back, short sleeves with hand embroidered eyelet consisting of satin-stitched flowers and leaves. The sleeves are made of two pieces attached with rows of embroidered chains, making a row of cut out squares. The bodice is gathered at neck and waist with a band around the waist of hand embroidered eyelet. The skirt is gathered and there are 15 small tucks around the bottom of the skirt. The bottom edge (7cm wide) is hand embroidered eyelet with scalloped edges. There are some stains and tears.
