Shirt. Man's. Handmade. Bright blue with white and brown checks. Banded collar. Opens halfway down front with five buttons. Top button missing. Buttons at each cuff. According to a description written by Mrs. M. Looscan May 7, 1899: "Confederate overshirt of Major M. Looscan. Made of goods captured by him from the Federal Army at Calvin Creek fight 1863(?). Shirt was made by Miss Jane Moore of Moorseville [Mooreville], Texas. She made herself a dress of the same material. Miss Moore married Mr. Johnson and lives at a Paris, Texas."
