Dress, girl's. Brown cotton print dress, lined with brown striped material (may have been reversible). Long sleeves and a buttoned down front with belt in back. Seven buttons. Original catalog card notes that the dress is "about 5 or 6 year old size". Poor condition. Moderate tears - lining at shoulders, under sleeves. Slight to moderate staining/ discoloration. Slight wrinkling. Original catalog card notes, "Worn by Mary Huckins, Daughter of Rhoda Barton Huckins from 1845-1851. Made by her mother." According to genealogical information located with other Huckins' materials (Acc. 18372c1-9, donor: Sarah Hawley Creson), Mary Eliza Huckins was the fourth and last child of the Reverend James and Rhoda Barton Huckins. Mary Eliza Huckins was born March 14, 1845 at Galveston. She married Fenno D. Ball on April 26, 1866. She died on June 14, 1866.
