Dress, for young girl. Brown striped cotton dress with square neckline and gathered yoke; short sleeves. Band at waistline with drawstring; ties at back. Gathered skirt. Opening at back (button hole has been closed-sewn). Original catalog card notes, "about 1 year old size." Fair condition, moderate staining, discoloration. Negligible tears throughout, slight at waistband and opening at back. Slight wrinkling. Original catalog card notes, "Worn by Mary Huckins, Daughter of Rhoda Barton Huckins from 1845-1851. Made by her mother." According to genealogical information located with other Huckins' materials (Acc. 18372c1-9, donor: Sarah Hawley Creson), Mary Eliza Huckins was the fourth and last child of the Reverend James and Rhoda Barton Huckins. Mary Eliza Huckins was born March 14, 1845 at Galveston. She married Fenno D. Ball on April 26, 1866. She died on June 14, 1866.
