Bedspread, wool. Navy blue and white fibers (wool and cotton?), alternating geometric pattern. Apparently machine woven. Construction: 3 peices (26"x 98"), handsewn together. Bedspread was made by "Grandma" Chessher (1833-1940) of Jacksonville, Texas. Mrs. Chessher carded, spun, and wove the wool. A brief biography is included with the Transfer of Title (see Materials Transferred). Melvina Ingle was born at Jasper, Alabama on November 21, 1833. She came to Jacksonville in 1854 with her first husband, Hugh Francis. Her home served as a hotel as well as a hospital. She died at the age of 106 1/2 in 1940.
