Magnolia lawn, Magnolia Park view no. 9 near Houston Texas. (photograph)
Three magnolia trees in bloom are lined up in a row running diagonally from the left foreground of the photograph to the right background. There is a small group of people lingering around the left tree, two Caucasian women wearing white and an older Caucasian man wearing a top hat and beard behind them. An African-American man standing to the left of the group and in front of the tree, holds a Caucasian baby. Three children are playing among the adults. A horse drawn buggy is parked in front of the middle tree with two women in the buggy, a couple with a small child and a baby in a baby carriage to the side of the buggy. A boy is laying on his side, propped up on his elbow, to the right of the middle tree and a man is sitting on the ground with his back against the middle tree. A man is standing beside a sapling tree to the right of the photo. In the background, behind the trees, is a clearing with two visible horse-drawn buggies with people in them. This photograph is a reproduction of an original photograph from the collection of Mrs. W. Sperry Hunt, ca. 1889-1890.
